Miss Underhill presented the district financial summary through Aug. 31 and explained year-over-year differences. "Revenues appear to be down, but remember that that was because we received that bonus money of 1.36 million from the state," she said. She added that expenditures are up overall, sales taxes have increased, electricity costs are down about $20,000 compared with last year (attributed largely to timing differences), and diesel and gasoline costs are higher.
The board moved to approve the monthly financials after the presentation. Miss Underhill said some of the increases (for example, diesel) are partly due to a timing difference in billing cycles and partly due to higher commodity prices.
Board members had the opportunity to ask questions; none were recorded in detail in the transcript. The finance summary and summarized balance sheets for each fund were made available to board members.
