Several residents used the public-comment period to press the council on two separate issues: municipal transparency and an alleged unsafe driving incident by an officer from a neighboring department.
Darcy Dallas, a resident who described extensive document-review work, said residents should not have to "work this hard" to find agendas, minutes and supporting materials and asked the city to post legislative documents and supporting records before meetings so neighbors could review proposals in advance. "It should not be this difficult to be an informed resident of Eastlake," she said.
Another speaker, introduced as Andreas, described a near collision he said his wife experienced when a Timberlake police cruiser sped through a green-arrow left turn without lights or sirens. He said Timberlake officials had been unresponsive and urged Eastlake officials to contact Timberlake about risky driving that crosses into Eastlake. The mayor and chief were noted as having discussed the incident with the complainant outside the meeting, and the mayor clarified the finance director's payroll comment earlier in the meeting.
Council did not take official action on either public comment during the meeting but acknowledged the concerns and invited staff to follow up on transparency improvements and interjurisdictional policing communication.
