Taylor County Commissioners Court on Sept. 22 approved routine bills and ratified payroll, authorized budget transfers, approved specifications to advertise an ITB for Grade 4 washed rock, and declared selected county property surplus or salvage.
Finance staff presented two budget transfers: $2,700 within social services to cover office furniture and a $5,000 transfer in Fund 290 (Precinct 1) moving money from culverts to parts after a refund. The court approved both transfers 4-0.
Public works staff presented ITB2027-100 for Grade 4 washed river rock to be advertised in the Abilene Reporter-News and on the county website on Sept. 24 and Sept. 27; bids are due Oct. 8 at 2 p.m., with a tentative award at the Oct. 20 commissioners meeting. The proposed contract term runs from Oct. 20 to Oct. 19 with up to four one-year renewals. The court approved advertising the specifications 4-0.
Public works also recommended declaring several items surplus or salvage — including an older 1987 Chevrolet service truck, two Silverado vehicles and a sweeper from precincts, plus unusable shelving from the district attorney’s office. Commissioners declared surplus items to be auctioned and salvage items to be disposed of; motion passed 4-0.
