Building department: 144 permits issued in August; fire-displaced tenants near return

The building department reported issuing 144 permits in August and collecting $171,762 in application fees for the month. Inspectors completed 139 inspections and responded to 58 complaints; the office is also completing required life‑safety inspections for roughly 3,700 apartments and multiple hotels in the town.

The inspector said the fire at 141B Crawford (Senior Horizon Apartments) is scheduled for a CO final inspection, with the goal of returning about 20 displaced tenants to their homes. No further funding requests or timetable changes were announced at the meeting.
