Ron Novak, a Wildflower resident, told the board that many neighbors did not receive a recent billing cycle and several received unexpectedly high bills — in some cases roughly double longstanding averages.
"My own bill was double what has been the norm for me in the 12 years that I've lived here," Novak said, asking how the town will redress discrepancies and ensure consistent treatment for all affected customers.
Town water and sewer staff responded that several bills were estimated because some customers have not yet transitioned to the new meters; the department is contacting affected residents, and billing clerks will review accounts individually. Officials advised residents to schedule the free meter exchange to eliminate future estimated readings and said some adjustments have already been made at the payment window.
The department said it will investigate the cases Novak raised and work to make consistent adjustments where appropriate, but emphasized that usage varies by household and that any credits or corrections are handled on an account‑by‑account basis.
