Eric Anderson of Carson Power presented written materials to the Town of Wallkill during public comment and summarized two claims: that local ratepayers stand to avoid roughly $44 million in costs over 20 years if two battery storage projects proceed, and that incident rates for battery storage have fallen dramatically in recent years.
“If Carson's two battery storage projects are not installed, rateayers will be forced to absorb $44 million in costs over the next 20 years,” Anderson said, adding the company reviewed utility documents and industry reports. Anderson also cited an industrywide incident rate he said was 0.014% in 2025 and said the proposed projects would use Tesla Megapack 2XL units, which his submission described as having a favorable safety record.
Board members accepted the written correspondences from Carson Power for the file but did not take a vote on project approvals. The public‑hearing period on the town's battery‑storage regulations remains open; staff said submissions will be reviewed as part of the record. Anderson asked to return for a future work session for a more detailed presentation and the board indicated it would consider scheduling further technical briefings.
