A district presenter explained how district and campus leaders develop the district improvement plan (DIP) and campus improvement plans (CIP). The presenter said teams use multiple data sources — academics, attendance, discipline and graduation rates — to create a comprehensive needs assessment that informs objectives and strategies for each campus.
"Each year our district and campus leaders review data sources including but not limited to academics, attendance, discipline, and graduation rates to determine areas of needed improvement," the presenter said while describing the process. The speaker outlined site-based decision-making committee membership requirements (two-thirds teacher representation), the timeline for rough drafts to be submitted into the Plan for Learning system and the district's midyear (February) and summative (late May/early June) review cycle. The presenter said the board will receive CIP/DIP drafts for review and that the plans are public once approved.
Staff said they will continue to provide the board with progress checkpoints and will return the plans for final approval after campus-level feedback and district edits.
