The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of a specific-use permit for Integrity 1st Automotive, a proposed minor vehicle repair shop on the east side of Coit Road, by a 7–0 vote. Destiny Reynolds, a development review planner with the City of McKinney, told commissioners staff had received no letters of opposition and "as such staff recommends approval and I stand for any questions." The commission voted to forward the item to the City Council for final action on Oct. 20, 2026.
Applicant representative Tyler Adams said the business model limits daily volume and certain services to reduce neighborhood impacts: "they see about 8 to 10 cars a day," he said, and he added that the operation will not perform transmission tear-downs or body painting on site. Adams and staff said the applicant increased the landscape buffer adjacent to multifamily from 10 feet to 40 feet, oriented bay doors away from residential uses, and will store vehicles inside rather than outdoors overnight.
Commissioners asked staff and the applicant about existing masonry screening and overnight storage; Reynolds confirmed the existing masonry wall is solid and that the use must follow city noise and lighting codes and building-inspection requirements. Commissioner Hammock moved to close the public hearing and approve the request; Commissioner Conrad seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. The commission\'s favorable recommendation will be considered by City Council on Oct. 20, 2026.
