Jim Rockmeyer of Raymond Township made a detailed public comment about infrasound and turbine accountability, citing a National Institutes of Health document he said describes cardiovascular responses to low-frequency acoustic vibrations. He urged the village to use strong decommissioning language so that nonoperational turbines are removed in a timely manner.
"Although inaudible to the human ear, infrasound can still affect the cardiovascular function in an indirect manner," Rockmeyer said, reading from the NIH material he referenced. He also cited a model provision in another ordinance that deems turbines nonoperational after 60 days of nonproduction and requires removal within 90 days.
Board members listened but did not record a formal response or directive during the public-comment period; trustees generally encouraged the zoning-review process to proceed so the committee can consider related issues. Rockmeyer framed his remarks as a caution about public health and a call for accountability in any future turbine regulations.
