The committee tabled Item 15, regarding a property manager's license for Janet Mesleman, after council members said they had requested amendments to applications and asked MIS to create a digital registry showing properties managed by each licensee.
A council member explained the ask: if an application does not include a checkbox for whether a manager collects rent or advertises apartments, the licensing process should treat those activities as requiring a different approval or a real-estate license. "If you're showing property and collecting rent, then you have to be a licensed real estate agent, if I'm not mistaken by the state law," the member said. The committee requested corporation counsel draft the requested amendments and asked city MIS to prepare a digital, property-by-property registry for future reviews. The motion to table was seconded and approved for follow-up.
