At public forum homeowner Gary Turner asked the board to sponsor a temporary standstill and authorize county council to negotiate an enforceable agreement to keep him in his house at 7315 Gulf Boulevard. Turner said his district commissioner had fallen ill and he was seeking help from another commissioner to sponsor a short stay until the next board meeting.
County Attorney Tom responded that the litigation had concluded in county and appellate courts, the lease was terminated and the county had secured a mandate; the next step was obtaining a writ of possession. Tom told the board there were no county plans to take physical action on the structure and that "the case is over," adding that any auction or disposition of the property would be a future board decision. Commissioners discussed the limits of board action during public forum and offered to follow up with Turner's attorney outside the hearing.
Turner said his attorney believed the board could vote to save the home; county counsel and commissioners said they would communicate offline but noted that courts control possession and the county currently had no active physical removal plan.
