The Solano County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution recognizing September 21–25, 2026 as Fall Prevention Week and heard presentations from county aging-services staff and nonprofit partners about local fall-prevention programs.
Gwendolyn Gill, Health Services Administrator for Older and Disabled Adult Services, told the board: "According to the California Department of Aging, in 2025, we have about 110,000 seniors in Solano County." She and other presenters described the local Aging and Disability Resource Center's home-modification options and strength-and-balance classes aimed at reducing falls among older adults.
Rita Deanda, chair of the Napa Solano Area Agency on Aging advisory council, and Jillian Stevens, programs and operations manager at Meals on Wheels of Solano County, described on-the-ground services. Stevens said, "Our program helps over 100 seniors each year in Solano County in all 7 cities by providing necessary assistive devices and home modifications," and added that her program provides more than "1,000 assistive devices and home modifications" annually. Stevens said the program briefly shut down when funding lapsed last March but was able to reopen with Area Agency on Aging and a tribal grant.
Board members thanked presenters and encouraged continued outreach to seniors and caregivers.
