Harmony Public Schools board approves SB12 certifications for seven districts

Board members approved the required SB12 certifications for all seven Harmony Public Schools districts as presented at the Aug. 29 meeting. Staff told the board the submission is required by the Texas Education Agency and cited specific statutory citations: Texas Education Code 11.005 (the prohibition described as relating to DEI duties) and Texas Education Code 28.0022 (instructional requirements). "This submission is required by the Texas Education Agency to certify that we are in compliance with SB12," a staff presenter said during the item.

Board members asked no substantive follow-up questions during the discussion and moved to approve the certifications; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. The board’s approval will allow staff to submit the required materials to TEA for each of the seven districts. The board recorded the approval on the meeting minutes.
