The Cozad Community Schools Board of Education approved the district's 2026-27 budgets for all major funds at its Sept. 23 meeting, voting 4-0 to authorize Superintendent Dan Endorf to implement the plans.
The motion to approve the General Fund, Bond Fund, Depreciation Fund, Employee Benefit Fund, Activities Fund, School Nutrition Fund, Special Building Fund and Qualified Capital Purpose Undertaking Fund budgets was made by Michele Starman and seconded by Will Geiger. The board recorded votes as follows: Joel Carlson: Yea; Will Geiger: Yea; Stacey Mundell: Yea; Michele Starman: Yea. The motion passed unanimously.
Superintendent Dan Endorf reviewed the proposed 2026-27 budget prior to the vote. The approval authorizes district administration to carry out the spending and accounting actions necessary for the fiscal year beginning in 2026.
The board conducted the vote after a special hearing on the advertised budgets; the district posted meeting notices at the District Office, Cozad Post Office and Wilson Public Library. The board also addressed routine agenda-setting items and confirmed its next regular meeting for Oct. 12, 2026, at 7:00 PM.
