At its Sept. 23 meeting the Cozad Community Schools Board of Education voted unanimously to adopt the district's 2026-27 tax request, certifying specific fund asks and instructing staff to forward the resolution to the Dawson County Clerk on or before Oct. 15, 2026.
The resolution set the tax asking at $10,141,454 for the General Fund, $1,985,073 for the Bond Fund, $414,775 for the Building Fund and $321,837 for the Qualified Capital Purposes Undertaking Fund, for a combined tax asking of $12,863,139. The motion to approve the resolution was made by Stacey Mundell and seconded by Will Geiger; recorded votes were Joel Carlson: Yea; Will Geiger: Yea; Stacey Mundell: Yea; Michele Starman: Yea.
President Joel Carlson read the resolution aloud and noted the certified copy will be forwarded to the County Clerk by the Oct. 15 deadline. Superintendent Dan Endorf outlined the property tax asking and board members discussed the budget cycle and the overall tax asking for the district prior to the vote.
