During the budget discussion a council member described a proposed $80,000 tractor purchase for park maintenance, saying the current mower requires five to six days to mow a large park and the new equipment would cut that time roughly in half. "So we're gonna invest in an $80,000 tractor that's gonna cut that in 0.5," the member said, adding that time saved would allow staff to pressure wash signs, weed beds and perform other visible upkeep.
Finance Director Autumn Sullivan had earlier noted the city continues to invest in the capital improvement plan; the budget adopted by the council includes capital allocations that the council said will address infrastructure and parks needs. Council members described the purchase as part of a broader strategy to make parks more self-sustaining and reduce long-term maintenance pressures.
