County Administrator Jamie updated commissioners on Sept. 23 about agreement provisions that allow the county to seek reimbursement once certain developer-triggered tests are met and initial approvals for payments are submitted.
Jamie said the county was able to capture costs under prior agreements (citing Chester Crossing as an example), explaining the process: "So once, those tests have been triggered and the funds go into that with their funds, when they submit their 1st, approval for payment, we take out our portion 1st." Jamie also told commissioners the administration will present a nominee for the Development Authority's fifth seat to the board either later the same day or at the next meeting: "we will be presenting a name to you guys for our 5th, member." Jamie said orientation and upcoming meetings will help the new appointee understand current development projects.
The update included an administrative note that county sales tax and property-tax collections appear to be "on par" with expectations, which Jamie described as encouraging news for the county's fiscal position.
