Sandra Sentara, an EV Council analyst, presented a data update showing rising EV market indicators and progress on charger installs. She said July market share for EVs was 17.9% (the highest seen that year) and that the analyst team expects continued growth once August data are fully revised. Sentara also reported that, on DC fast chargers, installs through August already outpaced all of 2025 and that the state is roughly 86% of the revised port target for 2026.
"We're at 17.9% in July," Sentara said, describing the market‑share uptick. Earlier in the meeting Steven Hershkowitz observed that Department of Licensing data indicate more than 300,000 EV registrations in the state (he noted a lag in monthly updates and said he expects August to reflect the milestone). The analyst cautioned that some figures (e.g., population projections and used/new price trends) are subject to revision and require further analysis.
Sentara highlighted diverging price trends — new EV prices have decreased over the prior months while used EV prices have ticked up — and said the council will continue to investigate the causes. She said the council is tracking port installs, pricing and adoption trends to inform the revised targets and the council's planning work.
