The Tamarac City Commission voted 4–1 on Sept. 23 to establish an operating millage rate of 7.0000 mills for fiscal year 2027 under Temporary Ordinance No. 2635. The clerk recorded the roll call vote after the city attorney read the ordinance title and the public hearing produced no speakers.
Priscilla Moxie, the city's director of financial services, told the commission the July 1 certified taxable values raised budgeted property tax revenue from earlier estimates, and reiterated how the millage translates on a resident's bill. "At 7.00 mills, every 10,000 of taxable value equals $70 in annual property tax," Moxie said. Commissioner Wright moved to set the millage; Commissioner Keisha Daniel seconded the motion. The roll call was: Daniel — yes; Wright — yes; Mayor Michelle Gomez — yes; Vice Mayor Bolton — no; Patterson — yes. The motion passed 4–1.
The commission's action preserves the city's proposed rate but does not guarantee every resident's tax bill will remain unchanged, Moxie said, because assessed values vary and the city budgets property tax proceeds at 95% of certified value. The adopted millage will fund the operating portion of the FY2027 spending plan if the related budget ordinance is approved.
