At the Sept. 23 meeting, the commission reviewed details for the Dayton VA Stand Down scheduled Oct. 2 at Building 305, emphasizing services available to veterans and outreach to the community.
The Chair described the event and what veterans can expect: "veterans can come, show any form of veteran ID or the d d 2 14," and said the event runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Commissioners were told the Stand Down will include clothing and personal items, medical staff, VSOs and vendors such as the Red Cross, and food service so attendees leave with supplies and a meal.
Members discussed distribution logistics, volunteers, and suggested sharing a flyer or landing page; the Chair said he would scan and send a flyer to the commission the following day. The commission encouraged members to volunteer and to publicize the event so veterans and service providers are aware of the free services offered.
