Melissa Roy, assistant town manager, told the Facilities Advisory Committee that construction at the town’s new public safety building is proceeding on schedule and that staff are planning a January move‑in.
“We expect siding to go up in December with a move in date in January,” Roy said, and added that commissioning is expected in November and December. She said siding installation is the major remaining exterior task and that some parts of the building—evidence rooms and police operations—will remain closed during public tours for safety and investigative integrity.
Roy said carpet and drywall work is underway and that staff are discussing how to manage tours and a possible grand opening without compromising secure areas. Chair Mark Leon and committee members encouraged the public to drive by the site to see progress but noted that final acceptance (certificate of occupancy) and commissioning activities will determine exact public access dates.
The committee received no formal vote on the building at the meeting; Roy said staff will return with updates as commissioning and the certificate‑of‑occupancy schedule firm up.
