Committee members said Plan New Hampshire will issue recommendations on the train‑station neighborhood in approximately four to six weeks, and they discussed potential design and funding approaches to make the station a local economic amenity.
One of the funding ideas discussed was creating a tax increment finance (TIF) district around the station and railroad corridor to capture future development value as a funding source for station improvements and an over‑track pedestrian egress. "There was a recommendation for a tax increment finance district centered around the where the train station would be and the railroad tracks as potentially funding not just a train station but also egress over the tracks for like pedestrian bridge," a committee member summarized.
Members said the Plan New Hampshire effort included neighborhood‑level outreach and that ideas range from wayfinding and parking upgrades to larger infrastructure projects subject to BRC and select‑board review and funding availability.
