The Cutler Bay Town Council on Sept. 22 adopted a final millage rate of 2.8332 mills per $1,000 of assessed value and approved a $120,278,530 operating and capital budget for fiscal year Oct. 1, 2026–Sept. 30, 2027.
The finance director read the resolution language fixing the millage and the council voted unanimously. "The town's final millage rate for fiscal year commencing October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027 is hereby fixed at the rate of 2.8332 mills per $1,000 of assessed property value within the town," Finance Director Robert Dire read during the meeting.
Council members and staff said the rate is intended to maintain current levels of resident services, including police, respond to negotiated contract costs and cover anticipated election and debt-service costs tied to the Legacy Park project. Council earlier noted the proposed millage is 6.94% greater than the rolled-back rate of 2.6494 mills.
Budget materials presented at the hearing show the town projects a fund balance and an approximate surplus; Mayor Marbot thanked staff and said the budget "replenish[es] our surplus knowing what's around the corner" and praised staff for their work.
The motion to adopt the budget passed on a roll-call vote. The adopted budget total reads in the resolution as $120,278,530 and will take effect with the new fiscal year on Oct. 1.
