The Eastham Conservation Commission unanimously approved a Request for Determination allowing repair of the wooden sections and landing boards of an existing beach access stair at 385 Sherworth Road (Map 07, Parcel 165).
Commissioner Greg Douglas, who led a site visit, told the board the stair system consists of two sections—aluminum and wood—and that the applicant proposes “simply [to] repair the stretch of stairs, the wooden sections of the stairs and replace the . . . boards for the platform.” The commission inserted special conditions requiring that any cutting and debris removal be performed upland (for example in a driveway) and that crews clean up as they work to avoid material entering the resource area.
The commission made a formal motion for a positive 2B / negative 3 determination with the special conditions and the motion passed on a roll call vote with all members present voting yes. Chair Karen Strauss noted the intent was to permit the safety and usability of the access while minimizing on‑site disturbance.
The approval is limited to the repairs described in the filing and the special conditions; any change in scope (new footprint, replacement with a different structure) would require additional review.
