Strong Tree Engineering (Chris Latazi) returned with an updated submission for the Anderson family's proposed pool at 275 Salt Works Road, including a revised site plan, a vegetation data chart and a mitigation plan. Latazi said he had corrected a mapping issue so the elevation and 100‑ft coastal buffer line are shown properly and provided a list of tagged woody stem counts (two inches and up).
Commissioners expressed concern that proposed mitigation (tree plantings) could overcrowd a naturally vegetated area; several members suggested allowing some native existing specimens to remain rather than replacing ‘like for like’ in dense parts of the site. Commissioners discussed the possibility of accepting off‑site mitigation on town property in lieu of planting in a densely vegetated zone and asked the applicant to perform a site walkthrough with commissioners prior to the next meeting. The commission voted to continue the matter to the Oct. 13 site visit and meeting to give staff and applicant time to update plans, confirm planting selections, and provide corrected elevation markings.
The applicant agreed to update plans and meet the commission on the site visit day for a walkthrough; commissioners requested a planting plan that considers habitat diversity (hardwood inclusion) and verification of flagged trees prior to construction.
