City Hall guests Crystal (Cotton Funeral Home) and Gary (Sons of the American Revolution, representing VFW) previewed "Standing Watch," an America 250 event that organizers describe as a military living timeline to honor veterans and active-duty service members.
"We were intrigued with the American 250 and we really wanted to do something to honor our veterans and the the active service um community as well," Crystal said, describing plans for reenactors and artifacts from across U.S. military history. Gary added that the program will span the American Revolution through recent conflicts.
Organizers said the program will include period uniforms and short presentations representing different eras. Artifacts and personal items will be on display in a secondary room and the evening will conclude with dinner and live music. The event is being staged at VFW Post 2514 on Butler Road with several local partner organizations involved.
The hosts encouraged veterans and active-duty service members to pre-register; a QR code and phone number will be posted on social media with registration details. The organizers also said some proceeds from a 50/50 raffle will support RCS's veteran wing.
