Vice President Mohammed Jello of the Republic of the Gambia told the General Assembly that multilateral institutions must be strengthened to deal with widening geopolitical divisions and growing development pressures. "Trust is being tested," he said, urging a more representative, responsive and effective United Nations and a global financial architecture that can deliver for all nations.
Jello called on member states to translate commitments into action and to protect the universal character of the organization so developing countries can participate meaningfully in decisions that shape their future. He linked reforms to tangible outcomes—including better delivery on the 2030 Agenda and more predictable climate finance—arguing that without substantive changes poorer nations face intensifying debt burdens and inadequate representation.
