Director Emmery told the committee that city departments rapidly collaborated after Urban Alchemy confirmed bed‑bug cases at Agape House; residents were temporarily relocated while the facility was treated and have since returned. "Everyone is back at Agape now. that facility has been 100% treated," Emmery said, and staff continue to treat belongings and follow up with residents.
Emmery also described repairs at the GIC where an air transfer failure led to pool closures; some parts must be fabricated, so staff are sourcing local components while coordinating a service plan and assigning a project manager to accelerate reopening. Emmery emphasized the community impact—high‑school swim season and therapy pool users—and said staff expect to provide firmer timing within days. She also noted work on opioid abatement implementation and an Oct. 22 seniors health fair at the Mary Esther Gonzalez Senior Center.
