The selectboard confirmed plans to install three speed humps on Winter Street and said striping would be completed that evening.
A town staff member said the speed humps will have a white longitudinal stripe leading up to each hump and that speed-hump-ahead signs were already on site. "They're striping tonight," the staff member said, and added that yellow "5 mile an hour" plaques had been ordered but arrived white. Board members debated whether to keep the white signs or have the vendor replace them with yellow plaques, noting yellow is recommended for suggested-speed signs while white is more typical for regulatory signs.
Residents who spoke during discussion said the humps should slow traffic effectively. One resident said, "I definitely lost some 25 30 mile an hour people," arguing that a five-mile suggested speed felt appropriate for crossings. Staff said the yellow plaques would be sent as soon as they were remanufactured and that the department would monitor the humps' effectiveness after installation.
The board did not record a formal vote in the transcript; staff said they would follow up with the Department of Transportation if DOT guidance about sign color arrived.
