At the hearing the presenter emphasized attendance as a core demonstrable progress indicator and said the district aims for roughly 95% daily attendance. "We aim to be at about I mean obviously we would love to have a 100% daily attendance rate um but we aim to be at about 95% um and currently we're sitting at about 94% attendance rate," the presenter said.
The school has introduced a "Glad You're Back" protocol intended to make outreach caring rather than punitive and to provide a personal check-in and catch-up plan for students returning from absence. The presenter said the academic recovery teacher, "Miss Verzowski," is already contacting families to establish caseloads and help students catch up after extended absences.
The presenter also framed chronic absenteeism as cumulative, describing how missed days translate to missed instructional content across subjects and grades. She said the school will provide case-managed supports and friendly, individualized re-engagement messages for families to reduce absenteeism going forward.
