In his address to delegates, Prime Minister Janes Yansha said the search for peace and security in the Middle East remains of profound importance and that civilian suffering in Israel and Palestine deserves sustained attention. He also urged the Assembly to guard against using criticism of government policy as cover for anti‑Semitism.
"Every civilian life matters," Yansha said, and added that attention should be guided by "the scale, duration and severity of suffering, not primarily by geography, political alliances, media visibility or political influence." He said a majority position does not by itself determine what is right and emphasized that the right of a democratic state to defend itself against terrorism must be recognized while civilian suffering is addressed.
Yansha framed these remarks within a broader call for consistent international attention to crises worldwide, arguing that caring about one crisis should not reduce concern for others. He did not propose specific new measures for the Israeli‑Palestinian context during this speech.
