The Indianapolis Board of Public Works voted Sept. 23 to award the SD 23‑102‑2023 thoroughfare drainage improvement contract (Area 7) to Calumet Civil Contractors Inc. at a not‑to‑exceed amount of $2,673,000.
Jamie Cole, construction administration, presented the project and said it covers drainage improvements and structural rehabilitation of 10th Scribe from Shadelen Avenue to Midhofer Road. “Project SD 23 1 0 2, 20 23 thoroughfare drainage improvements program area 7 consists of drainage improvements and structural rehabilitation of 10th Scribe from Shadelen Avenue to Midhofer Road,” Cole said in the presentation, adding substantial completion is scheduled for May 30, 2028, with final completion July 14, 2028. The engineers' estimate was $2,863,453.72; six bids were received and the low bidder was Calumet Civil Contractors Inc., which bid 6.7% below the estimate.
Cole also reviewed minority and women business enterprise participation and said the Office of Minority and Women Business Development found the bidder made a good‑faith effort to meet participation goals. Board member Adrice Redmond moved approval and Susie Corty seconded; the chair called for 'aye' and the motion carried.
