Brummond said the redevelopment tied to remediation would generally follow plans previously discussed with the community and listed proposed amenities and open-space commitments.
"The redevelopment here is...335 single family homes with community amenities that include new pool, tennis courts, pickleball courts, and green spaces, as well as nearly 110 acres of dedicated open recreational and conservation space as well as 50 acres of additional open space within the residential ponds itself," he said. He emphasized that the designation and cleanup are components of the redevelopment program and that some areas of the site tested clean while others showed elevated arsenic near the surface.
He told attendees that maps with sampling points would be circulated and that all environmental reports, including the county-approved site assessment, are available in Broward County's Envirose file for review. Attendees were told to expect the presentation and reports to be shared after the meeting.
