The Delaware County Board of Elections voted unanimously on Sept. 22 to adopt eight recommended polling-place changes for the Nov. 3 election.
Jackie Dunn, chief custodian of the voting machine warehouse, described the eight recommended changes and room moves — for example, Aston 1 to 501 Covenant Road; Darby Borough 11 and 12 from Blessed Virgin Mary Church to Park Lane Elementary School (1300 Park Lane); Radnor precincts moving back to the Mullins Center; Radnor 51 and 52 shifting from a gym to a cafeteria; and Yeadon 3 proposed to move from Evan Elementary School to Grace Court Senior Apartments. Board members raised concerns about parking and the use of private institutions as polling places and reiterated a preference for public schools when feasible.
Chair moved to adopt the eight changes "as presented" and the motion was seconded; the board voted aye and the motion passed unanimously. Staff said voters in affected precincts will receive direct mail notice, and that Pennsylvania Institute of Technology would not be ready to host Upper Providence 1, so those voters will remain at the firehouse until further notice.
