The Coventry Town Council voted unanimously to partner with Solar United Neighbors (SUN) and the Connecticut Green Bank on the Switch Together group-buy program, a community solar and battery storage outreach effort that leverages bulk purchasing to reduce costs for homeowners.
Allison Butcher, a Coventry resident and member of the town’s energy advisory committee, told the council the initiative is a "light lift" for the town and can expand access to solar and storage at lower cost. Cole, a representative of the Connecticut Green Bank, described Switch Together as a model similar to past "Solarize" campaigns: municipal endorsement and outreach combined with a vetted pool of contractors that offer discounted pricing to participating homeowners. Councilors asked about eligibility, timeline and municipal costs; partners said the program is free to municipalities, that anyone with a solar-ready roof can participate, and that an official launch is targeted for February.
