Barnesville approves multiple sewer and water contracts and advances CDBG project for Richardson Street area

Barnesville’s council approved multiple infrastructure contracts in early 2026 as the city advanced sewer and water improvements. On Feb. 9 the council awarded the North Trunk Sewer Improvements – Phase II project to Coggins Construction Company, LLC and the Veterans Parkway Water Main Improvements to Crawford Grading and Pipeline; the council also approved emergency repairs to the Westchester Lift Station.

At its Aug. 3 meeting the council awarded an additional CDBG-funded contract for water and sewer improvements in the Hillside/Richardson Street area to RDJE, Inc. City staff reported the projects are part of an ongoing capital program and bond-funded work to upgrade critical water and sewer infrastructure. The council also discussed project schedules and community outreach tied to construction timing.

Funding sources include CDBG and other local project budgets; contract awards were recorded as unanimous motions in the minutes.
