Chair opened the August workshop of the Magnolia Independent School District and asked staff to review the districts most recent accountability results. Presenter explained the Texas systems three domains and how the highest of Domains 1/2a/2b counts for 70% of a rating while Domain 3 (closing gaps) counts for 30%.
Presenter walked the board through heat-map examples and district calculations and summarized overall outcomes: "So you'll see here, we earned 47 distinctions last year. The year before we had 26," the Presenter said. He told the board the districts overall numeric score was 87, above the Texas average he cited as 81, and that several campuses earned A ratings. The Presenter also noted that high school weightings make secondary campuses especially consequential to the district score.
The workshop included a brief question-and-answer period on how the state converts raw STAAR and CCMR percentages into scaled scores and the practical implications for district planning. The Presenter offered to return with a condensed slide set for follow-up and the Chair thanked staff for the overview.
