Superintendent Richard Schelling told the board the wastewater plant is fully operational following summer repairs and that crews removed about 25,000 gallons of sludge with additional sludge removal scheduled. He said two pumps that failed over the summer were sent for repair and that a section of an older eight‑inch line had been cleared of roughly 8 to 10 yards of sand after a damaged line admitted beach sand into the sewer.
"Wastewater - The plant right now is fully operational," Schelling said, while also noting that all three village wells are currently functioning and that chemical and fuel supplies are stocked. The board also authorized Schelling to attend the NY Conference of Mayors public works training in Lake Placid in October to retain wastewater licensing credits and for professional development.
Residents raised related concerns about occasional sewage odors; a resident (Josh Bloom) told the board there had been social‑media reports of a sewage smell and said it was noticeable in town. Trustees said they would continue monitoring plant operations and report back on any further maintenance or upgrades needed.
