Superintendent Joanie Menard presented a detailed three-stage entry plan to the East Longmeadow School Committee, saying she will combine quantitative document review with deep stakeholder engagement to set district priorities.
Menard said Stage 1 (now through November) will focus on analyzing district documents and performance metrics; Stage 2 will include interviews, focus groups, and school observations; and Stage 3 will culminate in a public report in December followed by strategic planning January–June. "I'm looking at both quantitative and qualitative data," Menard told the committee, and she said she has completed more than 35 interviews averaging one to two hours each.
Menard emphasized equity and transparency as organizing principles and said the findings will be posted on the district website and folded into newsletters. She told committee members that protocols and implementation steps for policies will be developed concurrently by the administration and returned to the committee as appropriate. The committee did not take formal action on the entry plan at the meeting; Menard said she will return with documented findings in December.
