Several residents used the public-comment period to sharply criticize a recently released Sachs review and to express concern about how county leadership has handled investigations into alleged fiscal issues.
Valerie Whitehead of Queensbury said the review "wasn't audited" and "doesn't give you any assurance of completeness or accuracy," and argued it lacked the scope of a forensic audit: "What is not in this review is what you would find in a true forensic audit." She said her team had documented revenue recoveries of roughly $2,400,000 and projected another $1,000,000 for 2027 but argued the Sachs review failed to give proper credit or opportunity to respond.
Travis Whitehead of Queensbury criticized the report for not consulting the controller's office and warned supervisors about possible FOIL-related litigation, citing County Law §5-50 about the treasurer's duties: "If you put a lot of stock in what they have to say, shame on you." Another commenter asked that specific statements about Arrow Bank on page 8 (items 57 and 59) be deleted if proven erroneous.
Board members did not engage in extended rebuttal during the public comment segment; no formal responses from the county administrator or controller were recorded in the meeting audio. Speakers called for a more thorough, forensic-level review and for procedural transparency.
