Brian White, regional administrator for WSDOT's South Central region, updated the board on work along I‑90 and the Vantage Bridge rehabilitation, reporting steady progress despite geotechnical challenges and a limited construction season. "By the end of 2027, [the bridge] should open and ready for public," White told the board, and he described phased work, concrete paving progress and rivet replacement challenges.
White also highlighted operational steps taken to manage traffic during construction—travel‑time signage for detours, a dedicated commercial vehicle officer to enforce restrictions, expanded winter crews and new remote avalanche‑mitigation charges that reduce closures. He said the project yields a roughly 50‑year expected remaining life for recently completed decking work and emphasized continued coordination with contractors and patrol to manage peak travel delays.
