After an extended public‑comment period, the East Hampton Town Board moved through a lengthy set of resolutions and votes on Sept. 17, approving claims, personnel appointments, contract awards and budget adjustments.
Among the actions the board approved were claims on warrant number 9B totaling $9,105,581.88 and $56,472.79; the appointment of an automotive mechanic to the Highway Department (Edward Kaffel) at an annualized rate equivalent to $28.52 per hour effective Sept. 28, 2026; an environmental aide appointment to the aquaculture department retroactive to Sept. 14; and multiple budget modifications for departments including Aquaculture, Buildings & Grounds and Finance. The board accepted bid EH26045 for annual drainage contracts awarded to Laser Industries Inc. and approved HVAC improvements contracts for the Police Department and Airport projects, with mechanical and electrical contract amounts listed in the record.
A notable change order approved increased the town hall window and facade restoration contract by roughly $288,561, raising that project's total to approximately $677,000. The board also set public hearing dates for CPF project plan additions and 2027 CDBG funds. Most motions passed by voice vote; one roll call on a first‑time homebuyer down‑payment assistance item recorded a recusal by Council member Calder Piedmont.
