Councilwoman Ricketts summarized a Sept. 14 call with state DOT/DOH officials and AMT engineers and said the agencies appear to have settled on Alternative 5, which includes a traffic signal and an additional turn lane. "At this point, it seems they have settled on alternative 5, which will be a traffic light and additional turn lane," she said.
She said the updated plan would also incorporate streetscape work on Summit Point Road that had not been part of the initial scope, which the committee welcomed as acknowledgement of neighborhood impacts. Members flagged funding as the limiting factor: while engineering has been obligated and the project remains in the long-range plan, construction is not designated in the MPO Transportation Improvement Program and could therefore be years away. The state said it will continue public engagement through design.
