Finance Committee Recommends $1.6M Borrowing Authorization for Route 6 Water Main

Article 7 would authorize the town to borrow up to $1,600,000 for construction of water mains and related costs for the Route 6 water main project in the vicinity of Fonts Corner Road and Hathaway Road. Finance staff said the town may combine borrowing with available funds and that coordination with a concurrent MassDOT project could reduce the town's share of construction costs.

Committee members asked whether the work would be paid from enterprise fund retained earnings, free cash, or borrowing and requested clearer language about potential early paydowns and funding sources; staff said those details will be provided as the project plan is finalized. The committee recommended the article 7–0–0.
