Multiple residents testified in favor of the applicant during the public‑comment portion, describing Lantana Pizza as a longtime community fixture and urging the council to approve the special exception promptly so renovations can be completed ahead of the November season.
Tom O'Donnell, who identified himself as a longtime customer, said the town needs more restaurants and called the proposal “a good start.” He told the council the restaurant is “very much so missed” and urged expedited action so returning seasonal visitors will find Lantana Pizza operating. Roxanne Marrenberg and Sheila Litton also gave supportive remarks, praising the owners’ hospitality and saying the business contributes to community character.
Supporters said the proposed exterior improvements would improve the look of Lantana Road and that the business has historically drawn regular customers rather than late‑night crowds. Their statements were part of the record the council considered before attaching conditions and approving the special exception.
