Board approves bonuses and salary adjustments for Department of Social Services employees

County staff told the board that Department of Social Services employees did not participate in the county’s local pay‑and‑classification plan and therefore missed the recent local salary adjustments that other county employees received. Staff recommended providing a 2% bonus and a 2% salary increase to DSS employees to address that gap and noted the change can be absorbed within DSS’s existing local budget without additional appropriation.

The board moved to authorize the ordinance or payment to provide the bonuses and salary adjustments; supervisors recorded affirmative votes. County staff said the action aligns DSS pay closer to local county adjustments while using available local DSS funds.
