Manzanita council extends offer to Jennifer Watkins for city manager

The Manzanita City Council on Aug. 28 moved to extend an offer to Jennifer Watkins to become the city’s next manager, pending successful contract negotiations. Councilor Tom Campbell moved "I move to extend an offer to Jennifer Watkins to be our next city manager pending successful contract negotiations," and the motion was seconded; council members recorded affirmative votes and the mayor announced the council’s first choice.

Councilors thanked the recruitment team and community participants and said the next step is to negotiate terms. The mayor said contract discussions will occur privately and a public meeting will be held to present the contract and hold a formal council vote, possibly at the council’s September meeting. The council characterized the choice as unanimous in the meeting’s discussion.
