Sedgwick County voted to purchase a new ambulance through an HGAC cooperative contract with American Emergency Vehicles for $226,900. County staff told the board the EMS ambulance fleet consists of 32 frontline ambulances and that the purchase will bring the fleet to 33 frontline units.
"Expected delivery, is probably gonna be yet this year. This truck is sitting ready for us," said Matt Morris, division chief with EMS, adding the supplier already has units available and that recent budget actions provided funding. The presenter noted Sedgwick County has worked with American Emergency Vehicles since 2012 and that AEV is part of REV Group, which together produce a substantial share of new ambulances nationally.
Board members had brief operational questions about delivery timing and staffing needs; the board approved the motion to use the HGAC contract by roll call.
