The Redondo Beach Planning Commission on Sept. 17 approved a conditional-use permit and exemption declaration allowing Coast Music to occupy an existing two-story, roughly 3,600-square-foot former bank at 3500 Aviation Boulevard. Staff said the site is split-zoned (C-1 commercial fronting Aviation and R-2 residential to the east) but meets parking requirements and that soundproofing and other conditions would be required.
Associate planner Daniel Bessanize presented the application and told commissioners the applicant proposes private lessons and group rehearsals, with proposed hours Monday–Thursday 10 a.m.–9:30 p.m., Friday 10 a.m.–8 p.m. and weekend hours 9 a.m.–4 p.m. He said staff found “the use to be consistent with the general plan and the municipal code” and recommended approval subject to conditions. Architect Joel Takach thanked staff, and owner Beth Rodey said the business prioritized sound attenuation and community compatibility. The commission moved to adopt Resolution No. 2026-09PCR-10 for case 2026-0762; the roll-call vote recorded unanimous approval.
