The Brownsburg Redevelopment Commission on Sept. 17 approved an initial resolution to terminate the 2021 Veil Properties tax increment financing (TIF) allocation area and advance the amendment to the Plan Commission and town council for review.
Town staff presenter Mr. Pierce told commissioners the 2021 Veil Properties TIF is a single‑site TIF created to support commercial development at the Aldi site on Northfield Drive but that "TIF support was never requested" for the project and the development proceeded differently than planned. "This amendment would remove this TIF area entirely," Mr. Pierce said, and staff said the remaining TIF funds would be used to finance pedestrian improvements in the area.
Mr. Pierce outlined the approval timeline: Plan Commission review on Sept. 28, town council consideration on Oct. 8, and a return to the RDC for a public hearing and confirmatory resolution Nov. 3. Commissioners raised no substantive objections during the initial consideration and the motion to approve the initial resolution passed by voice vote.
